How does your magazine target its audience?
Kerrang! magazine is a rock music magazine targeted at a teen audience, but how do they target their audience? For one, they use bold for their title and a rock style font, for example the letters are rough and have lines and jaggered cuts into them. The use of an exclamation mark gives the effect of shouting and loudness.
Karrang! uses a rock themed colour scheme and also colours that will stand out and be appealing. Everything on the title page is capitalised and there are a lot of exclamation marks used. This is to make the point seem more exciting and like someone is suggesting the fact is bold and exciting . 'LINKIN PARK' are the main feature of this addition and have been centred on the page. This is to make them the focal point and the target audience will recognise them as iconic rock figures. The use of the light in the background bursting out from the two front men of Linkin Park make them even more focal and gives a sense of symery and mirroring on the page; it balances it. The pale background make the features on the page stand out more. These are all conventions used to target their audinence.
Well done, Hannah. Your analysis is sound and you've identified many of the key features.
ReplyDeleteYou could identify the musicians on the front cover and analyse how they are represented.
For each point raised, try to analyse it. For example: 'the letters are rough and have lines and jaggered cuts into them. ' What might this say about the intended audience?
