The Happening.
I've been meaning to post this for weeks now but kept forgetting. As you can probably see from the mass of updates in one day, I've had most of this work done for a while now but never got round to the important bit... putting it on my blog. Anyway, enough excuses... I'm useless. To the point of the blog!
I watched this film round my boyfriends house a few weeks back after realising his sister owned the DVD and I'd remembered we'd looked at the poster shown in Media one lesson. So, we watched it and I can honestly say I did not sleep that night. I'm not great with horrors or Thriller films but this was just... brilliant. I mean, not the fact it scared me to death but the acting, the plot and how things are carried out is brilliant... if you're into that kind of thing.
I won't post any spoilers but the plot consists of plants (trees, bushes, grass, you name it...) releasing a toxin that when inhaled by humans makes them kill themselves in any way they possibly can. It was rather horrific and there was a lot of blood and gore but the acting was fantastic. I thought some parts got a bit over the top though... like the man laying down in front of a lawnmower? A fantastic film though, would reccomend to any Thriller/Horror lovers.

Just to add, I thought the use of unique camera angles really made this film stand out.
ReplyDeleteLots of bizarre angles but they were really effective.
Well done, Hannah - glad you enjoyed it!
ReplyDeleteSome analysis of the film would be appropriate here, such as focusing on a scene and using media terminology to discuss the effect upon the audience - like the angles you mention.
Wow. Someone who liked The Happening! It made me laugh!
