Thursday 23rd September

Last Thursday my group consisting of Holly, Alana, Caitlin and myself went to film clips for our short example video. The purpose of this video is to give us an opportunity to get to grips with the new equipment, try everything out and also use editing effectively.
We spent about 40 minutes filming then returned to the Media suite to begin editing. Everything went fine to begin with then we realised we had one scene that was out on sync, which would mean we would have to re-record the majority of our work to make everything flow and fit together. We then quickly re-recorded our clips and re-uploaded them by which point the lesson had ended and we had to leave. We plan to begin editing in tomorrows lesson.
We used the video cameras and tripods in Thursdays lessons which was fun and made me realise how much sturdier and easy filming can be when using one. We tried to include as many different shots as we could and tried to make the plot of our short video quite funny and original.

We also started to use iMovie. I usually use Windows Movie Maker if I am editing any video clips but do have previous, and quite limited, experience with iMovie. It was interesting learning how to use the new software although it is a bit strange trying to get to grips with it. I would, however, like to learn how to use iMovie more comfortably over the next couple of lessons as I really like Macs.
That's about it for Thursday's lesson I do believe... it was a shame we had some problems when filming but these things happen sometimes. I'm really looking forward to seeing my groups final video.

  1. It's good to get into positive habits early (posting updates regularly). Well done.
